Little Foxes

This dress was made by my mother and I, after I found myself falling in love with Charlotte Taylor’s Autumn/Winter 2011 line featuring animal prints (literally, the line has beautiful garments covered in animal silhouettes). Being a mighty animal lover, I just had to have something like it. But also being the lowly commoner I am, I knew it would be impossible for me to get a hold of a piece of Charlotte Taylor’s line. And so, I scoured the internet for a similar garment, a knockoff, something! The closest thing I got to what I was looking for was the Leah Goren cat print dress that has been floating around tumblr and fashion blogs pretty recently. However, I could not stomach taking a 160 dollar loss for her amazing dress and so I opted to make a version of my own. I hand painted the fox heads on the fabric, and my wonderful mother sewed me this adorable baby doll dress out of it. I probably spent around 20 bucks for this cute little number.

  3. I've been lusting after Leah Goren's dress as well but haven't been able to afford it. I love that you made an alternative on the cheap! Plus, yours is completely unique and handpainted (?!?!). You've styled it wonderfully, and the photo of you laughing is my favorite. You look so at ease and happy. :)

  6. @Christy I know what you mean, even though it's not a designer price, the Leah Goren dress was still too steep, especially for a thrifting fiend like me. And yup, I just illustrated a fox silhouette, and painted it all over the fabric. I'm glad you like the styling, and I love that you like my laughing photo. I always have one I think you've inspired me to include one in every outfit post! :D
